USA Basketball Unveils Star-Studded Lineup For 2024 Paris Olympics

Must read

Team USA is poised to dominate at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a men’s basketball roster that reads like a who’s who of the sport’s current luminaries, including NBA superstar LeBron James from the Lakers, Stephen Curry from the Warriors, Kevin Durant from the Suns, and Joel Embiid from the 76ers. Sources disclosed this lineup to ESPN on Monday.

Under the stewardship of managing director Grant Hill, Team USA has deliberately left one spot on the roster open, which will be finalized following a training camp and series of exhibition games slated for July in Las Vegas.

The near-complete roster boasts an assembly of elite talents such as Anthony Davis from the Lakers, Devin Booker of the Suns, Anthony Edwards from Minnesota, Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday, both of Boston, Miami’s Bam Adebayo, and Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton. An official announcement regarding this 11-man roster is expected soon.

The team will be coached by Steve Kerr, who will have the unique opportunity to coach Curry, a player he has led to four NBA championships and who has earned two MVP titles, in his debut Olympic appearance. Kerr will also reunite with Durant, one of the only two players, along with Carmelo Anthony, to have secured three Olympic gold medals in men’s basketball.

LeBron James is set to make his fourth Olympic appearance, bringing a wealth of experience, including a bronze medal from the 2004 Games and gold medals from the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics.

Newcomers Tyrese Haliburton and Anthony Edwards, who both played in the non-medal-winning 2023 FIBA World Cup team, have also made the cut, promising a blend of seasoned leadership and fresh talent in the quest for gold in Paris.
