The 2024 United States men’s basketball team for this summer’s Paris Olympics is close to being finalized, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The roster features a who’s who of NBA stars, headlined by former MVP’s in LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Joel Embiid. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will head up the team.
The U.S. will for its fifth straight gold medal this summer and will have plenty of competition with the explosion of international talent that’s entered the NBA in recent years. The team last won the 2020 (held in 2021 due to COVID) games, defeating France in an 87-82 victory in the gold medal game.
As far as the roster goes, James will represent Team USA for the fourth time in his career and the first time since 2012. Kevin Durant will also be competing in his fourth Olympics and will try to surpass Carmelo Anthony for most gold medals all time with four. Meanwhile, Curry will be a first-time Olympian along with Anthony Edwards.
