Ex-Milwaukee Bucks Stud JJ Redick Breaks Silence On Intensifying Head Coaching Rumors

Must read

Milwaukee Bucks news: The NBA Playoffs are currently still in full swing, but that has not stopped the rumor mill from producing some of the biggest storylines that we should expect will dominate the summer.

As with every offseason, head coaching posts have already and will become available this year. One man who has been touted as a potential high-profile candidate for job openings across the league is former Bucks sharpshooter JJ Redick.

The 39-year-old has now broken his silence about the swirling rumors, and it is clear that he’s very much open to the prospect of being an NBA head coach.

Redick guested on a recent episode of the Road Trippin’ podcast with Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson. In it, Redick was given the opportunity to address the rumors about him entering the world of coaching this summer.

According to the 15-year NBA shooting guard, coaching is something that falls in line with the aspects he loves about the game of basketball:

“I am currently a broadcaster and a podcast host of multiple podcasts and really just enjoying those things,” he said. “… What I really miss is the juice. I miss the action. I miss the competition. I miss leadership. I miss being on a team. Like, (being) in a locker room — physically in a locker room after winning a road game. You miss that stuff. There is a high that you get as an athlete.

“… The part about coaching in general is the things that I miss and the things I love doing, that involves coaching. That all is part of coaching. That’s all.”

While Redick did not directly say that he wanted to be an NBA coach, it is clear in his statement here that he would not turn down the opportunity to do so.

Whether or not teams from around the league are serious about taking a major risk in employing a first-time coach with zero professional experience, however, is an altogether different matter. We have seen it many times in the past, though.
