Bob MacIntyre brutally trolls USA over Ryder Cup defeat in bizarre fashion

Must read

IT’S almost six months since Team Europe thumped the USA to win the Ryder Cup in Italy.

But it looks like Bob MacIntyre is an absolute no mood to let the Americans forget about their defeat!

Oban-born MacIntyre was one of the rookies as Europe attempted to wrestle the famous old trophy back from Team USA having been demolished at Whistling Straits three years previously.

A remarkable first day at Marco Simeone Golf & Country Club saw Europe storm into a lead without losing a single match.

And MacIntyre played his part, going unbeaten throughout the competition and winning his Sunday singles clash with Wyndham Clark.

In the end, it finished 16.5-11.5 to Europe with captain Luke Donald successfully bringing the Ryder Cup back to European soil.

Almost half a year on, that scoreline seems VERY fresh in MacIntyre’s mind.

He’s competing on the PGA Tour at the Valspar Championship this weekend.

And the Valspar has a rather unique characteristic in comparison to all of the other tour events.

The tournament traditionally allows players to customise their caddies’ bibs.

So instead of carrying the player’s name, the bib instead contains a phrase, a word or numbers of the golfer’s choosing.

On Wednesday morning, MacIntyre posted a picture of the form he had to fill out for the customised bib.

And he teased what might be coming.

He said: “What’s going on the bib this week?

“First thought was Eur 16.5-11.5 USA 🤣”

Incredibly, he only went and FOLLOWED THROUGH with that idea.

Sure enough, MacIntyre strolled onto the course in Florida with “EUR 16.5-11.5 USA” emblazoned on the back of his bib.

As you might expect, it caused quite a stir!

The PGA Tour tweeted: “Too soon?”

European fans were loving it.

One said: “He’s got zero chill.”

Another added: “Well played Bob!”

A third said: “Now this is something I can really get behind!”

Another commented: “Let them know!”

An unimpressed American fan, however, commented: “These numbers should be tattooed on the inside of every USA.”

Another said: “Pretty cringe tbh.”
