Around the League: Butler Hurt, Batum Praised, Team USA Roster Set

Must read

Let’s take a look around the NBA today. Most news revolves around last night’s play-in games, but Team USA gave us some important news as well.

Another Devastating Play-in Injury

One day after Zion Williamson suffered a hamstring injury, the Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler went down with a knee injury late in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s play-in loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. He played 40 minutes anyway, scoring 19 on 5-18 shooting, and his mobility looked noticeably limited as the game progressed. He’s expected to miss at least several weeks with an MCL injury, but his agent has complained about the reports. The Heat play Friday against the Chicago Bulls for the eighth playoff spot.

Nicolas Batum Gets One More Big Moment

In what might (or might not!) be his final season in the NBA, Blazers legend Nicolas Batum led the Sixers’ second-half comeback and eventual victory over the Heat. Batum finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds, one giant block in the final seconds, and a national postgame interview with Joel Embiid.
